“Yeshu”

Shalom, friends!

I’ve found this interesting article and I’d wanted to share it.

In the final paragraph the writer notes the following:

“And I can tell you as an eye-witness here that the ayin is returning to Israel and the Jewish people as never before. Through visions dreams, study of the prophets and testimonies, many Jewish people are joyously discovering the Messiah, King of the Jews. That final letter is now being grafted back onto Yeshu and becoming Yeshua, the Hebrew word for salvation, and eyes are opening to see Him who is our very Jewish brother and King.”

All I could say is that I’m also an example of someone who was secular and found Yeshua  Mashiach (or actually Yeshua Mashiach found me!) 16 years ago. When I became a believer, I only knew 1 other Jewish believer in Yeshua, but during the last year or so, I’ve “met” many believers over social media. In my opinion, there is a great messianic awakening happening!

“Yeshu”

I was speaking in Hebrew to a friendly middle-aged Israeli woman about Yeshua and was very surprised that she agreed with everything I said. Finally I felt there was something not quite right, so I asked her if she understood about whom I was speaking. She said yes, Yehoshua ben-Nun. So I clarified and said, “Yeshu.” Then and there she screamed at me and said, get away from me, missionary! and she left in a huff.

“Yeshu” is the abbreviation of the name Yeshua as found in the rabbinic writings. It is the removal of the last letter of the name, which is the letter ayin, or ein. Ayin is also the word for eye, but is also the word for a spring of water, as in Ein Gedi- the Goat Spring. The use of the same word for eye and spring define the spiritual nature of the eye, which is like a spring of water. A good eye, or spring, puts out much good water, and a bad spring, or eye, is one who is not generous, which is the biblical and common expression, ayin rah – evil eye – meaning stingy, as opposed to generous – ayin tova – good eye (see Deuteronomy 15:9, Matthew 6:21-24).

By removing the ayin from the name Yeshua, one removes the eye, causing blindness. The Hebrew for blind is eiver, also beginning with the letter ayin. As Paul writes in Romans 11:25, ‘For I would not, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in‘, and Isaiah wrote, “Who is blind but my servant…” (Isaiah 42:19). Some even construe the name Yeshu to be a curse, which indeed it is.

As there are no numbers in Hebrew, the letters define numbers- the first letter alef being one, beit, two, etc. The letter ayin is the number seventy. According to biblical exegesis, seventy is the number of the nations, the Gentiles, the goyim, based on the scripture, “When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when He separated the sons of man, he set the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the sons of

Israel” (Deuteronomy 32:8), which is seventy Hebrews that went down to Egypt with Jacob (Genesis 46:27). That ayin, or eye, which is given for vision, and the spring of living waters, has gone out to give that vision to the nations, and that yeshuah, which is the Hebrew word for salvation, has gone out from Israel to the world, now for nearly two millennia, to either be accepted or rejected by the Gentiles.

Now, in these latter days, Israel has been re-gathered back to the Promised Land of Israel, a phenomenon unprecedented in history, and seen before the eyes of all the nations. Both Yeshua and Paul inform us that Israel shall be set apart until the time and fullness of the nations be come in (Luke 21:24; Romans 11:25-32), and then all Israel will be saved.

And I can tell you as an eye-witness here that the ayin is returning to Israel and the Jewish people as never before. Through visions dreams, study of the prophets and testimonies, many Jewish people are joyously discovering the Messiah, King of the Jews. That final letter is now being grafted back onto Yeshu and becoming Yeshua, the Hebrew word for salvation, and eyes are opening to see Him who is our very Jewish brother and King.

This Shabbat

Lets examine our ways: do you choose the narrow gate or wide gate? (Lamentations 3:40-41)

lamentations shabbat.JPGShabbat Shalom, friends!

The season of Teshuvah (repentance) is now truly underway after it was announced by a solar eclipse.

Let us examine our ways, return to ADONAI and go through the narrow gate as Yeshua mentioned in Matthew 7: 13- 14.

13 “Go in through the narrow gate; for the gate that leads to destruction is wide and the road broad, and many travel it; 14 but it is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Remember: you don’t have to wait until a specific appointed time to return. If there is some obstacle or barrier placed by satan affecting your relationship with ADONAI. Make a stand! Improve your relationship with ADONAI today and let’s continue to walk with ADONAI YHVH by lifting up our hands in prayer everyday.

Let’s listen to the beautiful words from the Book of Lamentations. The writer of this book isn’t mentioned in the Bible, but traditionally, it is believed that the Prophet Jeremiah wrote it.

40 Let us examine and test our ways and return to ADONAI. 41 Let us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven

Have a peaceful Shabbat and a good week!( Shavua Tov!) As always – thank you for visiting. It’s much appreciated! I enjoy taking this journey of (re)discovering Biblical Truth with you.

All glory to Yeshua ha Mashiach (the Messiah)!

Aaronic Blessing for you and your family:

22 Adonai said to Moshe, 23 “Speak to Aharon and his sons, and tell them that this is how you are to bless the people of Isra’el: you are to say to them,

24 Y’varekh’kha Adonai v’yishmerekha.
[May Adonai bless you and keep you.]
25 Ya’er Adonai panav eleikha vichunekka.
[May Adonai make his face shine on you and show you his favor.]
26 Yissa Adonai panav eleikha v’yasem l’kha shalom.
[May Adonai lift up his face toward you and give you peace.]’

27 “In this way they are to put my name on the people of Isra’el, so that I will bless them.”

This Shabbat

A call to return to the God of our Salvation (Teshuvah / תשובה)

Shabbat Shalom, friends!

Tis the season to repent; to return to ADONAI (interestingly, the season will open with a solar eclipse – the total solar eclipse over America). In a couple of days, it will be 40 days until the appointed time of Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement – Leviticus 23:27) and also a month before Yom Teruah (the Day of blowing the Shofar / Trumpets – Leviticus 23:24).  The appointed times are found in Leviticus 23.

If you aren’t already observing these appointed times, should you keep these? Well, let’s consider this: Yeshua (Jesus) said in Matthew 5:17 to 18:

17 “Don’t think that I have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete.

18 Yes indeed! I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud or a stroke will pass from the Torah — not until everything that must happen has happened.

The King James version actually uses the word “destroy”.

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

These appointed times aren’t just Jewish high holidays nor Israel’s holiday. These are “the designated times of ADONAI which you are to proclaim as holy convocations are my designated times”(Leviticus 23:2). It is for you to decide whether you want to observe these appointed times. Just consider this: ADONAI gave us his instructions (Torah) and HIS designated times to observe. Throughout Yeshua’s ministry, He discussed, referred to and fulfilled the Torah, the Prophets and the Writings (Psalms and Proverbs). Perhaps, it’s worthwhile looking into these appointed times for yourself?

Returning to the number “40”. The number “40” is one of those special numbers found in the Bible. The number “40” appears numerous times in the Word of God for example, the rains (in Noah’s day) fell for 40 days and nights (Genesis 7:4); Moshe / Moses was with God in the mount, 40 days and nights (Exodus 24:18); Goliath presented himself to Israel for 40 days (1 Samuel 17:16) ; ADONAI gave Nineveh 40 days to repent (Jonah 3:4); Yeshua fasted 40 days and nights (Matthew 4:2) to name a few of these verses.

While I was planning this blog post, I was drawn to the Book of Hosea. (Please note: every name in the Bible has a meaning and Hoshea also means “salvation”. Interestingly, Moshe / Moses renamed Hoshea, son of Nun to Y’hoshua (Joshua) in Numbers 13:16 and the name Y’hoshua was later changed to Yeshua right before the New Covenant  / Testament period. You can read my blog post on this in “Revealed: the name of the Jewish messiah“).

If we read from the Book of Hosea, the Prophet Hosea, discussed the sins committed by Israel and Judah. In particular, he pointed out their murderous behaviour and sexual sin.

Hosea 6: 7 – 10:

7″But they, just like men, have broken the covenant, they have been faithless in dealing with me.

8 Gil’ad is a city of criminals, covered with bloody footprints;

9just as bands of robbers wait to ambush someone, so does a gang of cohanim. They commit murder on the road to Sh’khem! Their conduct is an outrage!

10 In the house of Isra’el I have seen a horrible thing; whoring is found there in Efrayim, Isra’el is defiled.

Yeshua, as the Messiah and Son of ADONAI also discussed and qualified these in Matthew 5 21 to 22 and 27 to 29:

21 “You have heard that our fathers were told, `Do not murder,’l and that anyone who commits murder will be subject to judgment.

22 But I tell you that anyone who nurses anger against his brother will be subject to judgment; that whoever calls his brother, `You good-for-nothing!’ will be brought before the Sanhedrin; that whoever says, `Fool!’ incurs the penalty of burning in the fire of Gei-Hinnom!

27 “You have heard that our fathers were told, `Do not commit adultery.’m

28 But I tell you that a man who even looks at a woman with the purpose of lusting after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

29 If your right eye makes you sin, gouge it out and throw it away! Better that you should lose one part of you than have your whole body thrown into Gei-Hinnom.

Does this sounds like the world today? Not what the world wants to hear. This is the kingdom of satan, attempting to direct us away from ADONAI, even to destroy us. The kingdom of satan is founded on murder, hate, the spirit of whoring, sexual sin, lies and deceit. Make a stand against satan!

We also read in James 4: 7 to 10:

7 Therefore, submit to God. Moreover, take a stand against the Adversary, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and he will come close to you. Clean your hands, sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded people! 9 Wail, mourn, sob! Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy into gloom! 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

ADONAI has a plan for us to make this stand and to receive salvation. ADONAI gave these prophetic words to the Prophet Hosea to record thousands of years ago. The message here is very clear: no matter your sins, return to ADONAI. Confess your sins and sin no more. Our God, the Almighty Living God of Israel, will save us, heal us, give us grace and show us his ways. ADONAI, is the God of our Salvation! (In Hebrew: EL Yeshuati Isaiah 12: 2-3):

Hosea 6 1-3:

1 Come, let us return to ADONAI; for he has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck, and he will bind our wounds.

2 After two days, he will revive us; on the third day, he will raise us up; and we will live in his presence.

3 Let us know, let us strive to know ADONAI. That he will come is as certain as morning; he will come to us like the rain, like the spring rains that water the earth.

Hosea 12 6(5):

5 Adonai ELOHEI-Tzva’ot; ADONAI is his name!

6 So you, return to your God; hold fast to grace and justice; and always put your hope in your God.

Hosea 14 2(1):

Return, Isra’el, to ADONAI your God, for your guilt has made you stumble.

2 Take words with you, and return to ADONAI; say to him, “Forgive all guilt, and accept what is good; we will pay instead of bulls [the offerings of] our lips.

Hosea 14: 9:

9 Let the wise understand these things, and let the discerning know them. For the ways of ADONAI are straight, And the righteous walk in them, but in them sinners stumble.

Hosea 3: 4- 5:

4 For the people of Isra’el are going to be in seclusion for a long time without a king, prince, sacrifice, standing-stone, ritual vest or household gods.

5 Afterwards, the people of Isra’el will repent and seek ADONAI their God and David their king; they will come trembling to ADONAI and his goodness in the acharit-hayamim.

Also in Micah 7:18:

18 Who is a God like you, pardoning the sin and overlooking the crimes of the remnant of his heritage? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in grace.

Thus, not matter your sin – seek ADONAI. Cry out to HIM, with tears in your eyes, if you have to. Repent and return. Try to observe ADONAI’S appointed times, if you can – it’s your decision. Our father, ADONAI wants you to be in HIS presence on these days. He wants to reveal HIS power, signs / wonders in the skies, HIS plan and character to you on a personal level. It’s an open invitation every year. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are from. Perhaps you’ll meet ADONAI for the first time or you’ll rediscover HIM or take your belief to the next level by discovering something new in the Word of God that you haven’t read before.
