This Shabbat

Yeshua addressed tradition

Shabbat Shalom,friends,

In Matthew / Mattiyahu 15 and Mark 7, Yeshua discussed man-made religious rules  (“Tradition of the Elders”) after a question was asked by the P’rushim and Torah-teachers. Yeshua referred to the Prophets (Nevi’im) who prophesied about these false teachers (Isaiah / Yeshayahu 29:13). This prophecy is still applicable today even after 2000 years. Yeshua pointed out that “…with your tradition which you had handed down to you, you nullify the Word of God!” (Mark 7:13). This is such a powerful statement. Yeshua could have said that at least they were trying to praise ADONAI with their traditions, but no; He was quite direct in addressing their practices and denouncing it. These man-made rules go completely against the Word of God. In fact, if you think about it, these man-made rules are about power and control, greed and deceit.

Furthermore, in Mark 7:18 to 23 [Yeshua] replied to them, “So you too are without understanding? Don’t you see that nothing going into a person from outside can make him unclean? For it doesn’t go into his heart but into his stomach, and it passes out into the latrine.” (Thus he declared all foods ritually clean.)  “It is what comes out of a person,” he went on, “that makes him unclean. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come forth wicked thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, arrogance, foolishness….  All these wicked things come from within, and they make a person unclean.”

Yeshua teaches that all the above mentioned negative traits make a person unclean and you can’t enforce your own tradition onto ADONAI and think this makes yourself clean and holy. The only way to achieve salvation is to read the Word of God (Tanakh & Brit Chadasha) and let the Ruach HaKodesh assist you to walk in ADONAI’S ways.

I hope you have a peaceful Shabbat!

Appointed Times

Biblical New Year

Tonight, the biblical new year starts. In Exodus 12 1 & 2, ADONAI spoke to Moshe and Aharon in the land of Egypt; he said,  “You are to begin your calendar with this month; it will be the first month of the year for you.” This is also the start of the countdown to Pesach (Passover) which is on the 14th day of Nisan. It is a month of celebration, freedom and salvation as the children of Israel gained freedom from slavery in Egypt thousands of years ago and we were also set free from sin through the blood of Yeshua Mashiach.

The countdown is on…

The Word of God says

Repent! Turn from your evil ways!

Say to them, ‘As I live,’ swears Adonai ELOHIM, ‘I take no pleasure in having the wicked person die, but in having the wicked person turn from his way and live. So repent! Turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, house of Isra’el?’
